    Lineage Logistics operates the world’s largest cold storage network by area – with some 1.7 billion cubic feet of temperature-controlled capacity. This includes warehousing, managed transport, on-site food processing – and the two largest automated temperature-controlled facilities in the world. It’s warehouses house a diverse array of food products including dairy, seafood, raw and cooked meat, poultry, and frozen or chilled foods. 


    Requirements

    Lineage Logistics required remote access monitoring and control of the chemical dosing equipment for the water-cooled condensers installed at their temperature-controlled cold storage warehouses. The condensers remove heat from the refrigeration system, which are critical in preserving the product integrity and ensuring food safety for the cold storage units. 

    The condensers are a significant investment as well as a critical component of the refrigeration system, so real time visibility, data history and alarms are essential elements that need to be monitored 24/7. The condensers can use up to 25,000 litres of water per day, and poor treatment conditions can trigger corrosion.

    Solution

    The CT PC110x Controller has been installed at 25 Lineage Logistics’ cooling towers across Australia over the last three years. 

    This programmable control system is an easy-to-use but sophisticated enabling remote monitoring and control of conductivity (Total Dissolved Solids), ORP, pH with Acid and BASE control, Temperature monitoring and programmable addition of chemical additives, such as inhibitors, biocides, dispersants, etc.

    Implementation 

    Working with in conjunction David and his team, we discussed all options and put forward a comprehensive solution which comprise our industrial spec PC110x controller, specifically designed for applications such as cooling towers, where corrosion and biological fouling are a common hazard.

    We then engaged qualified installers and cooling tower specialists, FlowMatrix to carry out the installation in line with our approved procedure. On commissioning, they provided the initial training to the local water treatment company who service these condensers for Lineage Logistics.
