Variable Area Flowmeters

About VARIABLE AREA Flowmeters

Variable area flowmeters, also called rotameters, are a simple and cost-effective way to measure the flow of water and chemicals. Blue-White® direct-reading flowmeters give an accurate, safe and economical flow reading, and need no power.

How They Work

Inside the meter, a float sits in a tube that widens from bottom to top. Liquid flowing up through the tube lifts the float. As the float rises, the gap around it grows, so it takes more flow to lift it further: the greater the flow, the higher the float. The flow is read straight off the scale.

Why Choose a Variable Area Flowmeter

  • Cost effective – low cost compared with other flow measurement devices
  • Reliable – trouble-free, with accurate and repeatable readings for years
  • Simple – easy to install and maintain
  • Flexible – no power needed, so they can be used almost anywhere

The range covers acrylic and polysulfone models, in-line and panel mounted, from 0.1 L/min up to 7,200 L/min: for pools and spas, drinking water and wastewater treatment, RO systems and industrial process water.
