GRIFFCO Air Release (Priming) Valve

GRIFFCO Air Release (Priming) Valve

Prime the Pump and Clear Air Locks Without Breaking the Line

A dosing pump with air or gas in its head cannot push against a back pressure valve, so it loses prime. The air release valve is a small bleed valve fitted on the pump side of a GRIFFCO back pressure valve.

Opening it takes the pressure off the pump head, so the pump can prime at start-up or push out trapped gas. The bled liquid is piped back to the chemical tank.

It is worked by hand as standard. For automatic degassing, a solenoid valve on a timer can open it for a set time each time the pump starts.

How to Order

The air release valve is supplied fitted to a GRIFFCO back pressure valve (M-Series, G-Series, High Flow, Unibody or Medium Pressure) or 2-port relief valve, from ¼” to 2″. Ask for the valve with the “AR” priming valve option.

Applications

  • Dosing systems with a back pressure or anti-siphon valve
  • Pumps that lose prime or gas-lock, for example with chemicals that give off gas
  • Start-up and commissioning of new dosing lines

Key Features

  • Prime the pump by hand without breaking the discharge line
  • Release air or gas locks from the pump head
  • Optional automatic degassing with a timed solenoid valve
  • Mounted directly on the back pressure valve: no extra tee or fittings
  • Bled liquid returns to the tank, so there is no spill
  • PVC, PP, PVDF or 316 SS; others on request
