Multi-Port Injection Quills

Multi-Port Injection Quills

A multi-port injection quill doses two, three or four chemicals into one pipe through a single process connection. Each chemical has its own quill, its own pump connection and its own valve, so the chemicals stay apart until they reach the middle of the water stream, where the flow mixes them in.

One tapping in the pipe instead of several saves fittings and installation time wherever several treatment chemicals are dosed at the same point, such as boiler feedwater and deaerators. All three types are made in 316 stainless steel, with Alloy 20 or Hastelloy® C-276 to order.

Duplex Injection Quills

Two quills, one inside the other, dose two chemicals through one process connection. The inner quill reaches further into the pipe than the outer one, so the two chemicals enter the flow apart; its insertion can be set on site with its compression fitting.

Key Features

  • Two chemicals at once through one 1/2″, 3/4″ or 1″ MNPT connection
  • Inner quill up to 178 mm, set with its compression fitting; outer quill 70 mm
  • Check valve kits on the pump side (-CVK), or ball valves with check valves (-BV-CVK)
  • Rated to 69 bar (1000 psi); 260 °C, or 190 °C with check valves
  • 316 stainless steel with a hex body; Alloy 20 or Hastelloy® C-276 to order

3 & 4 Port Injection Quills

Three or four quills on one process connection, each with its own pump connection and valve, for dosing several chemicals at the same point, such as a deaerator. The quills can be made to different lengths, so each chemical enters the flow at its own depth, and are welded to two support rings that hold them steady in the flow.

Key Features

  • Three (QT) or four (Q4) quills through one 1″, 1½″ or 2″ MNPT connection
  • Quills 305, 457 or 610 mm long; lengths can be staggered
  • Each port with its own 1/4″ FNPT inlet and ball valve; check valves on every port with -CVK
  • Quills welded to two support rings
  • Rated to 69 bar (1000 psi); 260 °C, or 190 °C with check valves
  • 316 stainless steel; Alloy 20 or Hastelloy® C-276 to order

All models and ratings: 3 & 4 Port Injection Quills Data Sheet.

CHEMTROL 3 port injection quill

Retractable 3 Port Injection Quills

Three quills on one process connection, each of which can be removed on its own and shut off with its own valve. Like a corporation stop, but for three chemicals at one point, and suited to deaerators and other lines that cannot easily be shut down.

Key Features

  • Three quills through one 1½″, 2″, 2½″ or 3″ MNPT connection
  • Each quill removed on its own and shut off with its own valve
  • 1/4″ quills and 1/4″ FNPT inlets (1½″ and 2″); 1/2″ quills and 1/2″ FNPT inlets (2½″ and 3″)
  • 305 mm quills as standard, with straight-cut ends
  • Rated to 10.3 bar (150 psi) and 121 °C
  • Check valves on every inlet with -CVK; Alloy 20 or Hastelloy® C-276 to order

All models and ratings: Retractable 3 Port Injection Quills Data Sheet.

Installing a Multi-Port Injection Quill

  • Fit the quill below the horizontal centreline of the pipe, with its tips between the 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock positions.
  • Choose the wetted material from each chemical’s safety data sheet and its chemical compatibility.
  • Where a quill must come out while the line is running, use the retractable 3 port quill, or a corporation stop for a single chemical.
