JACO Male Elbows

JACO Male Elbows

Plastic compression tube fittings

A 90° turn from a tube to a male NPT pipe thread.

JACO fittings are moulded in one piece from corrosion-resistant thermoplastics, with the ferrule built into the nut, so there is no loose sleeve to assemble. They suit plastic, metal and glass tubing, resist chemicals and scale, and insulate electrically, so there is no corrosion where different metals meet.

Specifications

  • Tube sizes: 1/8″ to 7/8″ O.D. – see the catalogue for each part (metric sizes on request)
  • Pipe threads: NPT
  • JACO configuration code: 40

Materials

  • Nylon 6 (N) – tough and abrasion resistant; −40 to 121 °C (−40 to 250 °F). Nylon absorbs water, so it is not the first choice for wet applications.
  • Acetal copolymer (C) – strong, with good wear resistance; −40 to 93 °C (−40 to 200 °F) in air, 82 °C (180 °F) in hot water.
  • Polypropylene (P) – 20% glass filled; −34 to 107 °C (−30 to 225 °F). Resists alkalis, salts and most weak acids; not for oxidants, strong acids or high free chlorine.
  • PVDF (K) – the best chemical and abrasion resistance of the four; fittings −40 to 121 °C (−40 to 250 °F).

Nut styles

  • O – ferrule nut with integral sleeve, for soft plastic tubing: max 50 psi (3.4 bar), tube 1/8″ to 1/2″ O.D.
  • PG – plastic gripper nut, for plastic tubing: max 220 psi (15 bar), tube 1/4″ to 7/8″ O.D.
  • SG – stainless steel gripper nut, for hard, smooth tubing: max 220 psi (15 bar), tube 1/4″ to 7/8″ O.D.

Installation

  1. Cut the tubing end square and remove the burrs inside and out.
  2. Push the tubing through the back of the nut, all the way to the tube stop in the fitting body.
  3. Holding the tubing firmly against the tube stop, tighten the nut by hand.
  4. Tighten the nut with a spanner a further 1½ to 2 turns.
  5. Re-tighten all nuts once the system reaches its working temperature.

Seal NPT threads with PTFE thread sealant or PTFE tape. Do not mix JACO parts with other makers’ parts.
