Choosing PVDF Fittings
CHEMTROL® supplies PVDF fittings from two makers: JACO and Tefen . Both are polyvinylidene fluoride, for strong acids, brines, halogens and other aggressive chemicals at up to 120 °C. They differ in how they hold the tube, in their sizes and in their threads; the table shows which suits your job.
| JACO | Tefen | |
|---|---|---|
| Tube sizes | Inch tube, 1/8″ to 7/8″ O.D. (metric on request) | Metric or inch tube, 6–12 mm or ¼″–½″ O.D. (barb-block); hose barbs for hose by its inside diameter |
| How the tube is held | Compression nut with the ferrule built in, so no loose sleeve; gripper nuts for higher pressure | Barb and tightening nut (barb-block), or a hose barb with a clip |
| Threads | NPT | BSPT, BSPP and NPT |
| Working pressure | Up to 15 bar (220 psi) with a gripper nut; 3.4 bar (50 psi) with the ferrule nut on soft tubing | Up to 14 bar (200 psi) at 20 °C |
| Temperature | −40 to 121 °C | −20 to 120 °C (subject to application) |
| Worth knowing | Also PVDF check valves, with a stainless ball and spring and a Viton O-ring | Barb-block nuts are reinforced polypropylene; Tefen’s PVDF is certified for drinking water (NSF/ANSI 61) and food (FDA) |
| Choose it for | Inch tubing and NPT threads | Metric tube or hose, and BSP threads |
