Inline Turbidity Meters

Pyxis ST-730 Inline Turbidity Meter Series

The Pyxis ST-730 series inline probe measures turbidity in water using a white LED as the excitation light source, detecting scattered light at a 90-degree angle to the excitation beam.

The fluidic and optical design of the ST-730 series probe addresses many of the limitations associated with traditional inline turbidimeters. It is easily inserted into a custom-made tee with a compression fitting port, ensuring precise positioning within the fluid stream.

The ST-730 series probe’s custom mounting tee features two ¾-inch female NPT ports, allowing integration into an existing ¾-inch sample water line. It can be connected to any device that accepts isolated or non-isolated 4-20mA input signals. Additionally, the ST-730 series probe has a short fluidic channel that is easy to clean.

Typical Applications

  • Industrial Water Treatment: Process control for raw water, cooling water, and wastewater systems.
  • Surface Water Monitoring: Ensures accurate turbidity measurement in environmental applications.
  • Chemical Processes: Ideal for applications requiring turbidity measurement within a middle range.

Pyxis ST-730 Features

Dual-Wavelength Technology: Utilises both white LED and IR LED with 90° scattering for enhanced reliability and accuracy in complex flow systems.

Compact Design: Features a small footprint, similar to an industrial pH probe, for easy integration.

Isolated 4-20mA Output: Eliminates the need for an additional transmitter, simplifying connection to PLC and DCS systems.

Integrated RS-485 Output: Enables straightforward troubleshooting and calibration.

Sensor Specification

Turbidity Range:

The Pyxis ST-730 Series is designed for monitoring mid-range turbidity across various applications. These probes are robust and highly tolerant to fouling, particulate matter, and air bubbles, outperforming other online turbidity meters tailored for relatively clean water.

The ST-730 series measures two optical densities and two scattering intensities at two wavelengths. This innovative design not only allows for a broad turbidity measurement range with fine resolution but also enables the probe to perform self-diagnosis for enhanced reliability.
