Chlorine Salt Generators
Automating Chlorine Salt Generators for Efficient Pool Management
Chlorine Salt Generators, also known as Electrolytic Generators, produce chlorine on-site through the electrolysis of salt (sodium chloride, NaCl).
While this eliminates the need for traditional chlorine additions, the active disinfectant remains the same—Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl), ensuring safe and clean water.
Types of Salt Chlorine Generators
- Brine Generators – Use an external brine tank to generate chlorine and inject it into the pool.
- On-line Generators – Require salt to be added directly to the pool water, typically in the 2,000-3,000 ppm range.
Benefits & Challenges of Salt Chlorine Generators
✔ Lower chemical costs – Chlorine is generated on-site, reducing reliance on external supply.
✔ Simplified maintenance – Fewer manual chlorine additions are needed.
✖ Corrosion risk – High salt levels can accelerate equipment and surface damage.
✖ Automation challenges – Standard ORP sensors struggle to accurately monitor chlorine levels due to stray electrical currents and hydrogen gas production.
CHEMTROL® PPM Sensor – The Solution for Reliable Automation
To overcome the limitations of ORP sensors, CHEMTROL® has developed the PPMFC010S Membrane – Free Salt Chlorine Sensor, designed specifically for saltwater pools.
✔ Accurate chlorine monitoring – No interference from electrical currents or hydrogen bubbles.
✔ Seamless integration – Works with CHEMTROL® programmable controllers for automated chlorine control.
With CHEMTROL® technology, salt chlorine pools can now be fully automated for precise, reliable, and hassle-free water management.
