UV systems are a powerful and reliable way to disinfect and sanitise pool and spa water, reducing the need for chemicals and cutting down on routine maintenance. However, traditional UV systems can consume a lot of electricity, especially when they run continuously—even when it’s not necessary.

That’s where our advanced programmable controllers, like the PC5100, come in. They help you use UV systems only when they’re truly needed. When Combined Chlorine (chloramine) levels go above 1.0 ppm, the controller automatically activates the UV system to break them down. If levels are between 0.4 and 1.0 ppm, the controller keeps the UV system in standby mode to save energy.

For UV systems with 4–20mA input, the controller can even adjust the power output—scaling it up or down depending on chlorine levels—so you’re always using just the right amount of energy. You get full control over when and how the UV system runs, helping you optimise water quality while significantly reducing energy costs.

Automated Chloramine Treatment (ACT) for Enhanced Air and Water Quality

To further support healthy, efficient pool operation, the CHEMTROL® Automated Chloramine Treatment (ACT) program offers an additional solution to tackle one of the most common challenges in indoor aquatic facilities: chloramine buildup and odor. Especially in natatoriums with limited fresh air circulation, chloramines can accumulate quickly, affecting both water and air quality.

With the ACT system, CHEMTROL® Programmable Controllers can be configured to automatically dose Potassium Monopersulfate (PMPS) and/or a specially formulated enzyme solution to oxidize and eliminate chloramines—without the need for major chemical changes or system overhauls.
